The brief four-day Uttar Pradesh Legislature winter session will commence tomorrow and will continue till December 24. The session is expected to be hectic, with the opposition expected to raise several issues, including special intensive revision (SIR), pollution, law & order, and corruption.

The opposition has already objected to such a small session and has demanded its extension to hold debates on some important issues.

The government is slated to hold a special discussion on the 150th anniversary of ‘ Vande Mataram ‘.

On December 22, the Yogi Adityanath government will table the first supplementary budget proposals for the current fiscal.

An all-party meeting was held on Thursday, which was chaired by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and representatives of the political parties.

The ruling NDA and the opposition — Samajwadi Party and Congress — have also called meetings of their legislature parties this evening.

The advisory council committee of the assembly also met today to finalise the agenda of the session.

According to officials of the assembly, during this session, several important legislative proposals will be discussed and approved. On the first day of the session, Friday, the assembly proceedings will be adjourned after a condolence motion on the death of Sudhakar Singh, the Samajwadi Party MLA from Ghosi.

There will be no assembly proceedings on Saturday and Sunday due to holidays. On Monday, December 22, the supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 will be presented in the assembly for approval at 1220 hrs after the Question Hour. Legislative work will then be conducted on December 23.

A detailed discussion on the supplementary budget will take place on December 24, and it will be approved before the house is adjourned indefinitely.

According to available information, the ordinances that will be presented for approval as bills include the UP Pension Entitlement and Validation, UP Municipal Corporation (Amendment), and UP Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment). Also included are the UP Ease of Doing Business (Amendment of Provisions), UP Education Service Selection Commission (Amendment), and the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment Bills related to UP Private Universities.
